During the English Debate, the Prime Minister said that The Green Shift tax was not Revenue Neutral'. According to his Green Shift manual (page 78) it would cost twice what Mr. Dion was paying back to Canadians. Mr. Dion was quite upset and said that this was not true. The tax was Revenue Neutral and said "Do not believe this man". The money was going to be used to improve the environment. I remember that the GST, was supposed to be "Revenue Neutral".According to The Green Shift Handbook: "Revenue neutral" means that the federal government does not increase its revenues through a new tax. For every dollar raised in taxes there will be a dollar returned to Canadians in tax cuts. (Mr. Dion has even said that this is to be enshrined in law.) Mr. Dion, if we take you at your word that this is indeed, "Revenue Neutral", 'Why is it necessary for you to create a large, expensive government bureaucracy to take money from our right pockets only to put it back in our left pockets?' If the federal government really will not increase its revenues through this new Green Shift tax then whose money are you going to spend on cleaning up the environment? Is this another GST tax grab? "Revenue Neutral Taxation" is giving me an 'empty-wallet headache'. Should I take two aspirins and call you after the election? Wayne Schaler 272 Avondale Ave, Ottawa (Ontario) K1Z 7G8 613 728-7811

I feel the need to voice about the lopsided social provisions in this province.I have a daughter who is struggling as a single mom. She works for a bank that pays her a pitiful $12.00 per hour. She is a terrific mom who has to think twice before she can afford to buy her son a toy. She earns $70.00 too much PER YEAR to qualify for assistance. As a province, we give millions of dollars per year to deadbeats who are terminally unemployable and sit around and stroke the taxpayer at every opportunity.yet a decent person who can't seem to get ahead is snubbed by a government that happily takes the tax off her to feed the bums. Shame on you, Canada, for not looking after the really needy.
